Frequently Asked Questions

What is sleep apnea?+
Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. The most common type is obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), caused by relaxed throat muscles blocking the airway. Symptoms include loud snoring, gasping during sleep, daytime fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.
How does an oral appliance work?+
A custom oral appliance gently moves your lower jaw forward, keeping the airway open and reducing snoring and apnea episodes. It's a comfortable, portable alternative to CPAP — no machine, no mask, no cords.
Is this covered by insurance?+
Many insurance plans cover sleep apnea oral appliances and durable medical equipment. We verify your benefits and handle all billing on your behalf before treatment begins. Call us at (303) 879-4278 to verify your specific coverage.
How long does the process take?+
From consultation to fitting, the process typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on insurance approval timelines and lab fabrication. Our team will give you a personalized timeline at your initial consultation.
What if I already have a CPAP?+
Many patients who struggle with CPAP tolerance — mask discomfort, noise, travel inconvenience — find oral appliances to be a more comfortable alternative. We'll discuss whether an oral appliance is right for you during your consultation.
Do you offer home delivery?+
Yes. We offer discreet mobile delivery of medical appliances for qualifying patients throughout the state of Colorado — from Lakewood and Castle Rock to rural communities.
What areas do you serve?+
We have clinical locations in Lakewood and Castle Rock, Colorado. Through our mobile delivery services, we serve patients across the entire state of Colorado.
Can I get fitted if I don't live near Lakewood or Castle Rock?+
Absolutely. Our mobile care team can travel to you for fittings and follow-up care anywhere in Colorado. We also offer telemedicine consultations to get started from anywhere in the state.
How do I care for my oral appliance?+
Clean your appliance daily with a soft toothbrush and cool water. Avoid hot water which can warp the device. Store it in its case when not in use. We provide full care instructions at your fitting appointment.
What makes LWSI different from other providers?+
We combine the clinical expertise of Dr. Glenn Thompson, DMD with the concierge-level coordination of Sarah Tanner, RDH. We offer statewide mobile delivery, full insurance handling, and a patient-first philosophy — every patient deserves to feel like the only patient.
